Scientific Background:Sphingosine Kinase 1 is responsible for the conversion of sphingosine to sphingosine-1-phosphate, an important mediator of cellular processes, such as cell growth, survival, and calcium mobilization. SPHK1 is capable of using both ATP and GTP as phosphate donors. It is most highly expressed in lung and spleen.
