Cytotoxic product of microsomal lipid peroxidation induced by xenobiotics. Reported to be a specific chemical indicator of lipid peroxidation in rat liver microsomes and in myocardial reperfusion injury. Covalently reacts with LDL and HDL during oxidative modification. Modifies proteins by covalent reaction with histidine and lysine residues. Activates TRPA1.
