Potently increases the efficiency of directed differentiation of mouse and human embryonic stem cells in the presence of Activin A (EC50=0.3µM in Sox17+ /Sox7- cells). Interacts with NME2 and inhibits its nuclear localization leading to downregulation of c-Myc. Under various conditions, stauprimide treated ESC's were able to be differentiated into endoderm, neuronal, and mesoderm cell lines.
