Fluoxetine metabolite that induces long QT syndrome via slow delayed rectifier potassium current block. It is a time-dependent inhibitor of CYP2C19 and CYP3A4. The active N-demethylated metabolite is a potent and selective inhibitor of serotonin uptake in vivo. Also inhibits coxsackievirus replication acting via inhibition of viral RNA synthesis. State-dependent TREK-2 blocker.
