Specific Activity:≥50 U/mg, where one unit hydrolyzes 1μmole of 250μM Boc-Ala-Ala-Nva-SBzl per minute at 25°C in 100mM MOPS pH 7.5, 500mM NaCl, 10% DMSO, 100μM DTNB.
 
Application Notes:Useful to study enzyme kinetics, cleave target substrates, and screen for inhibitors.

Scientific Background:Proteinase 3 is a neutral serine protease located in neutrophil azurophil granules. It is closely related to neutrophil elastase and can cleave elastin. PR3 is involved in diseases such as Wegener’s granulomatosis, emphysema, vasculitis, and other inflammatory diseases.
