Scientific Background:14-3-3 proteins are dimeric phosphoserine/phosphothreonine binding proteins, which have been shown to be involved in the regulation of many crucial processes such as signal transduction, cell-cycle control, apoptosis, protein localization, phosphorylation state and stability, transcription, metabolism, and malignant transformation. Potential 14-3-3 protein–protein interactions are also differentially regulated by cytokine stimulation. One report showed that 14-3-3 expression is induced in arterial trauma by cytokines, which suggests that this protein may play an important role in progression of vascular proliferative diseases.
