Scientific Background: | SPHK2 is one of two enzymes that can convert sphingosine to sphingosine-1-phosphate. SPHK2 has 45% identity and 80% similarity with SPHK1 and shares two large conserved regions. However, SPHK2 contains two extra domains, one internal and one at the N-terminus. SPHK2 is predominantly expressed in liver and heart. |
