Scientific Background: | Aurora kinases control chromatid segregation and their expression is elevated in many human cancers making them targets of interest of anti-cancer therapeutics. Ectopic overexpression of aurora kinase A in mammalian cells induces centrosome amplification, chromosome instability, and oncogenic transformation, a phenotype characteristic of loss-of-function mutations of p53. |
