Replaces Prod. #: ALX-340-043
A cysteinyl leukotriene which acts as potent agonist for contraction of smooth muscle. Induces microvascular permeability and mucus secretion in airways. Enhances growth of human airway epithelial cells. Reduces myocardial contractility and coronary blood flow. Induces long lasting hypotension. Stimulates angiogenesis. Stimulates LH8, LHRH9 and prolactin release. Produced in specific cell types or by transcellular biosynthesis and rapidly metabolized to LTD4 and LTE4. Transported by the multidrug resistance protein (MRP; Km=35nM).
