An orally available and biologically persistant inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase. Blocks anaphylactic response in guinea pigs (2-50 mg/kg). Prevented LTC4 synthesis in macrophages and reduced leukocyte migration to the airways induced by endotoxin in guinea pigs at 0.1-1 mg/kg. Blocked IL-4 induced LTB4 production in monocytes.
