An analog of antimycin A (mixture of antimycin A1, A2, A3 and A4) which binds to the hydrophobic groove of Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL thereby inducing apoptosis. It displays selective cytotoxicity for Bcl-XL-expressing cells (10µg/ml). Unlike antimycin A it does not exhibit general mitochondrial toxicity.
