The APOSTRAND™ ELISA is based on the sensitivity of DNA in apoptotic cells to formamide denaturation and the detection of the denatured DNA with an antibody to single-stranded DNA. It allows for the sensitive, specific and universal detection of apoptotic cells in a convenient 96 well microplate format. The APOSTRAND™ ELISA can detect 500 apoptotic cells per well and gives a linear response in the range of 500-5000 cells. It will not give a positive signal for necrotic cells. The APOSTRAND™ ELISA can be completed in 3-4 hours and is suitable for high-throughput screening.
