EGFP (enhanced green fluorescent protein) has emerged as an ideal fluorochrome for FACS analysis and fluorescent microscopy as it offers a more intense signal than wild-type GFP. It has Ex(max): 488nm and Em(max): 530nm. The green signal produced makes EGFP ideal for dual staining with propidium iodide (PI).
Figure: Detection of apoptosis using Annexin V-EGFP Apoptosis Detection Kit (Prod. No.
ALX-850-253).
Method: Apoptosis was induced in Jurkat cells by campothecin (2µM) for various times as indicated. Cells were collected and incubated with Annexin V-EGFP for 5 min. acc. to kit instructions. Results were analyzed by flow cytometry."
