Scientific Background: | Rat RELM-α (resistin-like molecule-α/FIZZ1) is a member to the family of adipocyte-secreted proteins called adipocytokines. Both RELM-α and resistin share high sequence homology in their C-terminal signature domain. However, both resistin and RELM-α's biological function as well as its molecular target is largely unknown. Recombinant rat RELM-α is a 10.5 kDa protein consisting of 89 amino acid residues. |
