Scientific Background: | Dectin-2 (dendritic cell-associated C-type lectin-2) is a lectin that has been reported to bind to zymosan as well as to hyphae of organisms such as Candida albicans. Dectin-2 exhibits specific recognition of high-mannose structures. Activation of Dectin-2 leads to phosphorylation of FcRg and up-regulated secretion of TNF-α and IL-1ra. Dectin-2 might act on inflammatory macrophages and DC to detect pathogenic organisms and possibly endogenous glycoproteins. |
