Scientific Background: | The ING1 (inhibitor of growth) tumor suppressor protein shares a number of biological functions that are very similar with p53. In humans, three ING1 exons and two introns generate four alternative splice variants produced from three different promoter regions (p33 ING1, p24 ING1, p27 ING1, p47 ING1). The ING1 family has been reported to mediate growth arrest, senescence, anchorage-dependent growth and apoptosis, as well as influence chemosensitivity. |
