Scientific Background: | TACI (transmembrane activator and CAML interactor), also known as TNF receptor superfamily member 13B, is a lymphocyte-specific member of the TNF-R family. TACI and its ligands (BAFF, APRIL) regulate humoral immune responses, activate NF-κB and c-jun N-terminal kinase, and play a role in B cell associated autoimmune diseases. Mutations in TACI are associated with a subset of common variable immunodeficiency (CVID). |
