VEGF promotes an array of responses in the endothelium, including hyperpermeability, endothelial cell growth, angiogenesis, and enhanced glucose transport. Several alternate splice isoforms of VEGF are known. Two high-affinity receptors for VEGF, VEGFR1 and VEGFR2, have been identified and characterized. |
