Note: Users should note that the antiserum is specific to the X-R-F-NH2 terminus and, accordingly, bioactive peptides with similar C-terminal sequences (e.g. mammalian g1-MSH9 and other N-terminally extended forms) may give strong positive immunostaining on certain tissues. The use of proteolytic enzymes (e.g. trypsin) to improve immunostaining should also be avoided as this may result in the appearance of 'false positive' staining due to the enzymatic induction of reactive -R-F-NH2 from nonreactive -R-F-G-K/R-K/R- pro-hormone sequences.
