Anthocyanidin with antioxidant effect found in pigmented fruits and vegetables. Shown to inhibit angiogenesis and endothelial cell apoptosis by stimulating nitric oxide (NO) production. Inhibits solar radiation (UVB)-mediated oxidative stress, reducing DNA damage. Delphinidin induces necrosis in hepatocellular carcinoma cells with no caspase activation.
