Colorimetric caspase substrate. Combinatorial studies have found the WEHD sequence to be optimal for clevage of tetrapeptide substrate by caspase-1, caspase-4, caspase-5 and caspase-14. Cleavage of the substrate by a caspase releases pNA, which can be detected by its absorbance at 405nm.
