Scientific Background: | MyD88 (Myeloid differentiation primary response gene 88) is a general adapter protein for the Toll/IL-1R family of receptors that have been shown to induce growth arrest, terminal differentiation, and apoptosis. MyD88 plays an important role in the inflammatory response induced by cytokines, IL-1 and IL-18, and endotoxin. It has been shown that signaling via MyD88 is essential for an LPS response. MyD88 is a cytoplasmic protein, which is expressed in many tissues. |
