MultiBead™ FAQ

Data Analysis Software

Q: How do I get the MultiBead Analysis Software on CD?
A: Customers and distributors can request a CD that includes the analysis software (both Mac and PC versions), user manual, and accessory files (e.g., kit files and sample data).  Simply include catalog # ADI-28-0001 along with your quote.  The CD is NOT automatically shipped with kits.

Q: The data analysis software contains inputs for 3 bead sizes and 12 bead intensities. Does this mean you could create a 36-Plex?
A: While most of our kits will likely fall in the 8-25 target range, we can accommodate a 36-plex assay.

Q: The application offers three types of standard curve models: point to point, 4P log fit, 5P log fit. Which model is most suitable for my standard curve?
A: There is no universal rule for choosing a curve fit, but as a recommendation start with 5PL and work backwards to 4PL and point-to-point until they have a "good fit" as determined by the R squared value. It is also acceptable to delete a true outlier to improve the curve fit.

Technical

Q: The kit insert mentions that single laser flow cytometers can be used but are not recommended due to possible interference of the fluorescence emission from the beads. How?
A: A 488 nm laser is capable of exciting both the detector and bead dye fluorophores, however the signals may bleed over from the detector fluorophore which can negatively affect results.

General

Q: What are the shipping and storage conditions of the MultiBead Kits?
A: MultiBead Kits will be shipped on -80C ice packs. All components of the kit except the standards and eicosanoid-PE cocktail (when included) are stable at 4C. The standards and eicosanoid-PE cocktail must be immediately removed and stored at -20C.
