Senior Manager, Business Development, Farmingdale, NY

In this position, you will be accountable for meeting defined revenue objectives, as well as, developing new market segments. You will be challenged to leverage product and technology knowledge to develop, grow, and maintain relationships with customers in defined market segments.

A key deliverable for this position is to build strategic relationships with customers in order to sell new technology platforms and current platforms, including molecular diagnostics, genomics, drug discovery, and bioprocessing.


Specific duties include:

  • Research and analyze target markets to develop strategic and tactical plans to grow the business. Develop segment implementation plans using qualitative and quantitative marketing tools including: market research, competitive analysis, surveys, customer interviews and market interaction.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key customers in focus market segments
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within Enzo to drive product development / project plans to support market development
  • Establish and grow revenue in new market segments
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new business, collaborations, and licensing.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement business development plans to meet company growth objectives.
  • Qualify and close new and sustainable business to meet revenue, product, and new customer targets.
  • Effectively interact with customers and partners, including participating in trade shows, industry conferences and face-to-face visits.
  • Partner with Product Management to develop and implement sales and business development strategies around existing and future product sales.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and meetings and give presentations to current and potential clients.
  • Monitor, track, and report on competitive intelligence and market trends and outlook.
  • Identify current and future technology trends within the focus market that can create opportunities for new markets, applications, and products that fit the business plan.
  • Develop and coordinate new business ideas and product developments which complement the overriding strategic plan.
  • Work as the project manager or as part of a global, cross-functional team to define and deliver new products, marketing campaigns, and opportunity assessments.

To be successful in this role requires:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a life sciences related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience or a Ph.D. (preferred) in a life sciences related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in life science , healthcare or the clinical diagnostic industry.
  • Strong understanding of the life science market and technologies, including strong technical skills in the areas of genomics, immunoassays, molecular diagnostics, and/or drug discovery.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proven relationship builder capable of developing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement key business development objectives.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve company goals.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Approximately 30% travel required.
