Manufacturing Scientist I – Antibody - Ann Arbor

Job description

In this position, you will be part of a team responsible for the manufacturing and adaptation of reagents including proteins and antibodies and kits serving the life sciences market and ensuring product quality based on thorough science and procedures. Key areas of responsibility in this role will be (1) antibody manufacturing by following schedules, protocols and SOPs, (2) developing and testing new reagents in support of R&D pipeline targets and timelines, including serum evaluation, antibody purification, validation for various applications, immunoassays, cell based assays, etc., (3) hybridoma maintenance, screening and cell line development, and (4) preparing documents for production records and supporting customer services with instruction of manufacturing manager.


Specific duties include:

  1. Purify antibodies using Protein A, Protein G, and peptide affinity.
  2. Characterize polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies using NanoDrop, ELISA, Western Blot, SDS-PAGE, IP, IHC, ICC Flowcytometry, ISH, etc.
  3. Label antibodies with various reagents using multiple chemistry modification methods.
  4. Test polyclonal antisera and hybridoma supernatants.
  5. Maintaining multiple types of cell lines, cell treatment, cell lysate preparation. Provide cells suitable for various activity assays.
  6. Prepare cells for ascites production and test for antibody production.
  7. Maintaining hybridoma cell lines, prepare cells for ascites production, provide cells suitable for various activity assays.
  8. Screen hybridoma clones, subclone and monitor antibody production using appropriate detection methods.
  9. Write documentation, including product specification sheets and inserts.
  10. Follow SOPs and maintain complete, neat, and accurate lab notebooks, protocols and other records.
  11. Take responsibilities in general lab management and maintenance.
  12. Meet manufacturing schedules and complete assignments.
  13. Follow instructions in inventory handling.
  14. Support Manufacturing Manager to answer tech support questions.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field with 5+ years of related experience; Master’s with 3+ years of related experience or Ph.D. in a related scientific field.
  2. Experience in antibody production and applications.
  3. Experience in tissue culture.
  4. Good oral and written communication skills; strong documentation skills.
  5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet aggressive deadlines, and be flexible in responding to changing demands.
  7. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  8. Computer proficiency required.
