Scientific Background:Human growth hormone is a growth factor that has been shown to play and important role in the growth control of cells.  It is a member of a group of hormones produced by the pituitary gland that also include prolactin. Human Growth hormone has been shown to stimulate proliferation of Nb2-11cells in a dose dependent manner. Its ability to promote growth is mediated by the somatomedin family of peptide hormones. It has been shown to enhance glucose transport and facilitates glycogen storage, as well as the ability to stimulate IGF-1 secretion in liver and other tissue.

Technical Info/Product Notes:FLAG is a registered trademark of Sigma-Aldrich Co.

Regulatory Status:RUO - Research Use Only

Human growth hormone, (recombinant) Western blot
Western Blot analysis of Human Growth Hormone probed with rabbit anti-FLAG antibody: Lane 1: MWM, Lane 2: 100 ng Human Growth Hormone (ENZ-PRT189) probed with anti-FLAG.
Human growth hormone, (recombinant) SDS-PAGE
Coomassie stained SDS-PAGE. Lane 1, Molecular weight marker. Lane 2, 1.0µg Human Growth Hormone (ENZ-PRT189).
Human growth hormone, (recombinant) activity_assay
Nb2-11 cell proliferation assay after treatment with Human Growth Hormone: Nb2-11 cells were placed in stationary media at 50,000cells/well in 96 well plates. They were treated with a tittered concentration of Human Growth hormone. The cells were grown at 37°C / 5% CO2 for 48 hours. Proliferation was measured using an MTT cell viability assay. The ED50 range is around 0.02 – 0.5 ng/ml.
