The SV40 BIO-PROBE® labeled probe is prepared by nick translation of the entire genome of SV40, a member of the papovavirus family. SV40 has served as a model virus for studies of transformation and gene regulation. Fragment size range: 100-1000 base pairs (as estimated by agarose gel electrophoresis).

Application Notes:The SV40 BIO-PROBE® labeled probe can be used in a variety of hybridization techniques, including Southern blots, Northern blots or dot blots, at a concentration of approximately 50ng/ml. The probe can also be used for in situ hybridization applications at concentrations of approximately 0.5 to 2.0μg/ml. Biotinylated probes have been shown to hybridize to homologous DNA at the same rate and to the same extent as non-biotinylated probes. The hybridized biotinylated DNA probe can be detected by its interaction with biotin-binding proteins, such as avidin, streptavidin or antibodies coupled to fluorescent dyes or color producing enzymes.Complete kits and protocols are available for in situ hybridization and detection procedures (Enzo’s SIMPLY SENSITIVE® and ULTRA SENSITIVE® enhanced in situ detection systems).
