Scientific Background:A ubiquitin-associated domain (UBA) has been predicted at the C-terminus of NBR1. It has been shown that UBA sequence motifs may function in isolated form and have utility in the isolation and characterization of multi-ubiquitinylated species. Autophagy receptors such as p62/SQSTM1 and NBR1, which simultaneously bind both ubiquitin and autophagy-specific ubiquitin-like modifiers, LC3/GABARAP, provide a molecular link between ubiquitination and autophagy.
