Cell-permeable molecule capable of directing differentiation of mouse and human embryonic stem cells into endodermal cells (EC50=223 nM). Developmental potential of these chemically derived endodermal cells has been shown via continued differentiation into pancreatic progenitor cells and incorperation into developing gut tubes of live mouse embryos. Nodal/Smad signaling is activated indicating IDE-2 functions via TGF-β-signaling pathway.
