Melanocortin receptor 3 (extracellular), pAb

The melanocortin receptors are members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. Their ligands, the melanocortins, are peptides consisting of µ-, β- and γ-melanocyte stimulating hormone and adrenocorticotropic hormone. MC3R binds all melanocortins with equal affinity. Agouti-related protein (AGRP) is the high affinity endogenous antagonist of MC3R. It is expressed in the brain, placenta, and gut tissues, but not in the adrenal cortex or melanocytes.
