Blocks cell cycle at the G1 and G2/M phase [1] by inhibiting G1 phase cyclin dependent kinases [2] downregulating cyclin D1 [3]. Modulates all three aspects of the glutathione-mediated biotransformation system, i.e. GSH levels, glutathione S-transferase activity and transport of GSH conjugates [4]. Antitumor activity. Induces γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase and apoptosis in L-1210 cells.
