Ac-AAVALLPAVLLALLAPYVAD-CHO

The YVAD-CHO portion of this peptide is a highly-specific, potent (K_i=1 nM) and reversible inhibitor of caspase-1 (interleukin-1ß converting enzyme, ICE), whose sequence is based on the pre-interleukin-1ß Asp-116 cleavage site for caspase-1. The sequence linked N-terminal to YVAD-CHO (residues 1-16) has been shown to enhance cell permeability, as described for P-414. The efficacy of the resulting chimeric peptide, for caspase-1 inhibition, is unknown.
