Decadienal is a lipid peroxidation product which is an aldehydic bifuntional electrophile. It induces mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress possibly via covalent modification of cytochrome c. It can induce cell proliferation via the p27 pathway in human bronchial epithelial cells.
