Calciseptine

Calciseptine is a specific L-type Ca_v channel blocker and a natural peptide isolated from the Dendroaspis p. polylepsis black mamba venom. It increases L-type currents in skeletal muscle and blocks spontaneous or K⁺-induced contraction of cardiac and smooth muscle cells. Using the patch clamp method, it was also shown to block specifically L-type Ca_v channel current in neuronal cells in culture.
