Scientific Background:The p53 tumor-suppressor protein prevents cancer development through various mechanisms, including the induction of cell-cycle arrest, apoptosis, and the maintenance of genome stability. TIGAR (TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator) has been identified as a p53-inducible gene. TIGAR expression decreased fructose-2,6-bisphosphate levels in cells, resulting in an inhibition of glycolysis. In addition, TIGAR expression lowered intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and protected cells from p53-induced apoptosis. Bensaad et al., proposed that TIGAR modulates the apoptotic response to p53, thereby allowing cells to survive mild or transient stress.
TIGAR (human) monoclonal antibody (Woody-1) Western blot
Figure: Western blot analysis of human cell lines using MAb to TIGAR (human) (Woody-1) (Prod. No. ALX-804-872). Method: Total protein extracts from various human cell lines (293T,THP-1, U937, and HeLa) were run on SDS-PAGE and TIGAR was detected by MAb to TIGAR (human) (Woody-1) at 1:1’000 dilution. Anti-mouse IgG coupled horse radish peroxidase was used at 1:5’000 dilution for ECL detection."
