Antibacterial, antifungal, cytotoxic and antialgal activity. Has been shown to inhibit NADPH oxidase activation in macrophages. Induces apoptosis by phosphorylation of p38 MAP kinase. Additionally, inhibits the association of p47-phox and Rac (NADPH oxidase cytosolic components) to the plasma membrane in macrophages.
