Scientific Background:Meteorin is a protein of 31kDa secreted by perivascular astrocytes, neural and glia progenitors. Meteorin is a potent neurotrophic growth factor that induces axonal outgrowth and plays important roles in glial cell differentiation. Meteorin expressed in the astrocytes surrounding blood vessels attenuates angiogenesis and promotes vascular maturation.
