| Miscellaneous/General: | SIRT1 is a member of the silent information regulator 2 (Sir2) family. It is an NAD+-dependent deacetylase protein that functions in cell death / survival, senescence, and endocrine signaling. It is also involved in the increase of life span following caloric restriction [1]. Recently, the first direct activator of SIRT1 has been described: AROS (active regulator of SIRT1) [2]. This nuclear protein of 142 amino acids interacts with SIRT1 and enhances SIRT1-mediated deacetylation of p53. |
