The DNA Damage EIA kit is a colorimetric competitive enzyme immunoassay kit with results in < 2.5 hours. This kit has been validated in-house in a variety of sample matrices and is supplied in a convenient 96 well plate format. Protocol (xls) available upon request.

Application Notes:For the measurement of DNA Damage (8-OHdG) in serum, saliva, and urine from any species. Cited sample types include plasma, seminal fluids, cell lysates, culture supernatants and DNA extracts.

Crossreactivity:The DNA Damage ELISA also detects 8-hydroxyguanosine (product of oxidative RNA damage) and 8-hydroxyguanine (product of oxidative DNA damage by hydroxyl radicals).

Scientific Background:Exposure of cells to oxidative and environmental stresses frequently results in the breakdown or oxidation of genomic DNA. Assays to evaluate the integrity of genomic DNA, or to assess the presence of oxidized DNA are frequently used as a means of verifying the onset of apoptosis or DNA damage.
