- Fast - results from up to 39 samples in duplicate in just 3 hours
- Quantitative - fully quantitative results surpass semi-quantitative Western blot analysis
- Easy-to-use - liquid color-coded reagents reduce error
The Bcl-2 (human), EIA kit is a colorimetric immunometric enzyme immunoassay kit with results in 3 hours that measures pan Bcl-2. Absorbance is read at 450 nm. Obtain results from up to 39 samples in duplicate per 96-well kit. The Bcl-2 (human), EIA kit provides fully quantitative results that surpass semi-quantitative Western blot analysis and easy-to-use liquid color-coded reagents that reduce error.

| Miscellaneous/General: | Bcl-2 (B-cell lymphoma 2) is an oncogenic protein that inhibits apoptosis. It is located within the mitochondrial membrane, endoplasmic reticulum and nuclear envelope. Bcl-2 is encoded by a 230kb gene that results in a 24-26kDa protein4. Bakhshi first identified Bcl-2 as an apoptotic proto-oncogene while studying chromosomal translocations in human follicular lymphomas. At approximately the same time Tsujimoto and Croce made the same observation. The function of Bcl-2 was first described by Vaux when it was demonstrated that it promoted the survival of factor dependent cells. Bcl-2 overexpression has been implicated in a wide variety of malignancies including (but not limited to) breast, prostate, skin, colon and pancreatic cancers. Related anti-apoptotic proteins include Bcl-xL, Mcl-1 and Bcl-w. Pro-apoptotic proteins in the Bcl-2 family include Bax, BAD, Bak, Blk and Bid. |
